Incubus, a superbly unique band out of Calabasas, CA continues to rock. Since formation in 1991, Incubus has produced five albums including Fungus Amongus, S.C.I.E.N.C.E.,Make Yourself, Morning View, and A Crow Left of the Murder. With every album, this perfect combinatiion of musicians pieces together a sensational compilation of creativity and instrumental sex. The compatibility of the five supermen that make up this group is candid. Brandon Boyd, lead singer, permeates his voice through the riviting strings of Mike Eizinger and Ben Kenney. On drums, Jose Pasillas sings in his own way, and DJ Chris Kilmore adds the spice with the digital spinning. DJ Lyfe helped record with the band on Fungus Amongusbefore DJ Kilmore was discovered by the band, and Dirk Lance was in place of Ben Kenney up until the release of Morning View. Since this group of guys have been jammin' for so long, it might be assumed they're losing speed, but any true Incubus fans will tend to argue the opposite.
They have truely molded from less experienced punk rockers to awesome music makers, but one thing has remained true for them through it all: their creativity. This is something very unique to the band and necessary to succeed in this industry. The lyrics are written with special meaning to the band, but they leave it to their fans to fill in the uncertainties. They don't leave only one far-fetched meaning; it is what YOU make of it. The inspiration this band sends is so powerful and moving, it isn't hard to see why they are so successful. Since the release of Make Yourself, Incubus has perfomed in many special events and traveled several tours such as Lollapolooza in 2003 and the Bridge Benefit for children with Cerebral Palsey. This is definately a band that reeks of stardom, creativity, and presence, and I just can't even begin to describe their electricity. Incubus has spoken, and I the fan, will continue to listen.
